COVID-19 Statement

As stated in our Mission Statement, “Sox Place exists to bring the Father’s heart to the fatherless, through physical, spiritual, emotional, and social provision to the street youth and young adult subcultures.” In times of crisis and uncertainty, we stand as a pillar for the street youth and young adults by the grace of God, for we can do no other.

Those we serve are at risk and are some of the least protected from exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19). Sox Place is on the front lines of this crisis and, while we rely on God the Father in serving the street youth and young adults (Ephesians 6:10), we require support to combat this problem as it appears it may persist for a protracted time period.

At this time, we have transformed Sox Place to allow for the street youth and young adults to pick up meals and supplies – we are handing these things to them out our back door. We are not allowing them to gather inside as usual to protect staff and volunteers from close exposure. Now, more than ever, these meals and supplies are critical for these street youth and young adults.

For those who have supported us with donations and volunteering, we thank you as these donations and your service as these have been a blessing to the street youth and young adults we serve. In the coming days and weeks, we anticipate there will be additional challenges and opportunities to serve the urban youth/young adults.  Therefore, we ask that you prayerfully consider supporting Sox Place with your donations and volunteering.  Colorado Coalition for the Homeless expects people on the streets to increase 3x-7x in the coming months given recent closures, layoffs and lack of monies circulating in the economy. Our expenses will go up to parallel that increase of those on the streets 3 times our annual budget!

In this time, we wanted you to be informed on steps we have taken to protect the street youth and young adults, staff and volunteers, including:

  • Following strict cleaning standards, including disinfecting high touch surfaces.
  • Directing staff and volunteers to wash their hands regularly.
  • Asking that staff and volunteers who are sick or in a high-risk category stay home.

Here are some of our most critical needs right now:

  • We need financial donations to support the ministry in purchasing meals and other supplies for the kids. You can donate here –
    • https://www.coloradogives.org/soxplace/overview or PayPal or mail check made out to Sox Place: Sox Place PO Box 544 Denver 80201.
    • We have prayerfully considered what we need to continue to serve, feed and supply the street youth and young adults. With the increased need for services and supplies we are requesting donations of any amount, and we are seeking total donations each month going forward of $70,000.00 or more.
  • We need socks, clothing, blankets/sleeping bags, protein and breakfast bars. Please, we ask for better than ever quality supplies because of our anticipated long-term need the street youth and young adults will have for these supplies in the coming days.
  • We need toilet paper and other hygiene products.
  • We need courageous healthy champions under 60 years old to help us serve the youth in our “back door” method. Please consider signing up for serving in this capacity, if you are healthy! If you are willing and can volunteer or for more info email Doyle – doyle@soxplace.com
